Recent engineering milestones with Starship Version 3 and the upcoming Flight 12 test have kept trader focus on SpaceX’s aggressive 2026 timeline for full rapid reusability, yet the 64.5 percent market-implied odds favoring delay reflect the remaining technical hurdles. Version 3 introduces redesigned Raptor 3 engines, expanded propellant tanks, advanced avionics, and structural upgrades intended to support booster catch, ship recovery, and minimal refurbishment between flights. While Elon Musk has publicly targeted demonstration of both-stage reuse and over 100 tons to orbit this year, prior flight tests have shown that propellant transfer, thermal protection, and high-cadence operations still require iterative validation. Key near-term catalysts include Flight 12’s performance data and any regulatory approvals needed for repeated returns to the launch site, both of which could shift consensus if timelines slip.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if SpaceX or Elon Musk announces that Starship is fully reusable by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
Note, this market refers to the Starship upper stage and does not require reusability for the Super-Heavy booster.
For this market to resolve to "Yes" it is not necessary that an actual reuse occur, only that SpaceX or Elon Musk announces that Starship is fully reusable by this market's resolution date.
The resolution source for this market is announcements by Elon Musk and SpaceX, or their official representatives.
