Tennessee's 2nd Congressional District remains a strongly Republican-leaning seat centered on Knoxville and surrounding East Tennessee counties, where voters have consistently delivered double-digit margins for GOP candidates in recent cycles. Incumbent Tim Burchett benefits from established name recognition, fundraising advantages, and a district partisan voting index that favors Republicans by roughly 17 points or more. The August 2026 primaries produced Democratic nominee Michaela Barnett to face Burchett in the November general election, yet forecasters across outlets continue to rate the race Solid or Safe Republican. Trader consensus at 93.5% for the Republican nominee reflects these structural fundamentals and the absence of recent polling or developments indicating a competitive contest. A late-breaking scandal, major health event, or unanticipated national Democratic surge could still shift probabilities, though such outcomes lack supporting indicators at present.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
