Recent first reactions from London premiere screenings and industry events for *Whalefall* have been largely positive, praising Austin Abrams’ intense lead performance as the scuba diver trapped inside a sperm whale and Brian Duffield’s taut direction of the survival thriller. The film, adapted from Daniel Kraus’ 2023 novel with a PG-13 rating from 20th Century Studios, benefits from Abrams’ momentum after *Resident Evil* and Duffield’s prior inventive genre work like *No One Will Save You*. Full critic reviews remain embargoed until October 14, two days before the October 16 wide release, leaving early Tomatometer positioning sensitive to the initial wave of professional verdicts and any late campaign shifts. Audience scores will follow post-theatrical rollout.
