Gold (XAUUSD) trades near $4,600 per ounce amid a recent rally driven by softer July U.S. CPI and PPI prints that lowered the market-implied odds of a September Federal Reserve rate hike to around 35 percent, with the federal funds rate steady at 3.50–3.75 percent. A weaker dollar and declining Treasury yields have reduced the opportunity cost of holding the non-yielding asset, while ongoing central-bank purchases and safe-haven demand provide structural support. Key catalysts for the week of August 24 include the July PCE release on the 26th and Fed Chair remarks at Jackson Hole on the 28th, which could shift rate-path expectations and real-yield dynamics. Geopolitical tensions and positioning flows remain secondary influences on near-term volatility.
