Recent National Weather Service and model guidance indicate a high near 78–80°F for Chicago on September 6, 2026, under mostly sunny skies and persistent northeast flow. This onshore trajectory off Lake Michigan supplies cooler, stable air that limits daytime warming after the early-September heat wave (highs of 91–96°F). Forecast highs cluster in the upper 70s to low 80s, aligning with the market’s leading 78–79°F (36.5%) and 76–77°F (32.0%) bins; the modest spread reflects typical 2–3-day uncertainty in boundary-layer mixing, exact wind speeds, and any residual cloud cover. Historical September 6 normals of ~79.6°F provide context, while the post-frontal moderation explains why probabilities drop sharply above 82°F. Updated model runs and NWS forecast discussions remain the key near-term catalysts.
