Recent National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance points to a moderating northeast flow easing Chicago’s early-September heat wave, favoring a daily minimum in the mid-60s on September 6 with partly cloudy skies and light winds. Persistent above-normal warmth through September 5 has left soil and boundary-layer moisture elevated, which could limit overnight cooling and keep the low near 66–68 °F, while clearer or calmer conditions would allow readings to dip into the low-60s. Historical climatology shows a 62.6 °F average low, yet current guidance clusters slightly above that baseline. With forecast confidence intervals spanning roughly 62–68 °F, traders have distributed probability across adjacent bins rather than concentrating on any single range. Updated NWS model runs and afternoon observations will refine the final minimum before market resolution.
