A broad heat dome advecting warm, humid air from the southwest is driving National Weather Service and ensemble model consensus for a September 1 high in the low 90s across Chicago, with NWS pointing to 91°F under partly cloudy skies and only a 20-30% shower chance. Southwest flow and elevated dew points near 70°F are supporting heat indices approaching 100°F, well above the early-September climatological average high of ~81°F. Recent forecast updates from late August have reinforced this warm pattern while highlighting minor spread from cloud cover and timing of any convection, keeping the 90-91°F bin as the market favorite at 42.5% implied probability amid typical model uncertainty ranges.
