Persistent high pressure and an upper-level ridge over the region are sustaining above-normal heat across Houston, with National Weather Service guidance calling for sunny skies and highs near 95°F on September 22 amid light northerly winds shifting easterly. Low-level moisture and high dew points support heat indices above 105°F, while minimal cloud cover and weak sea-breeze influence allow strong daytime heating above the seasonal average of 88°F. Recent model runs show tight clustering in the mid- to upper-90s, with small differences in boundary-layer mixing and afternoon wind shifts creating the narrow spread between the leading 94-95°F and 96-97°F outcomes. Updated NWS forecasts and next model cycles will refine the exact peak before resolution.
