Iowa's 3rd congressional district stands as one of the most closely watched House races for 2026, with traders giving the Democratic nominee a clear edge over the Republican incumbent amid the district's recent narrow margins. Zach Nunn, the sitting Republican representative who won reelection by four points in 2024, faces an unopposed primary while Democrats have narrowed their field to state Senator Sarah Trone Garriott as the presumptive nominee ahead of the June 2 primary. National Democratic groups have prioritized the seat as a battleground, reflecting its status as a toss-up or lean-Republican district under multiple forecasters. Recent campaign finance reports and candidate positioning highlight fundraising advantages and issue contrasts on topics such as immigration and tariffs that could influence turnout in this swing district.
