Recent National Weather Service and model consensus forecasts position the highest temperature in Chicago on August 25 around 78–81°F, with mostly sunny skies, light southerly winds, and minimal cloud cover limiting afternoon heating. This aligns with current atmospheric conditions featuring a northwest flow and no significant warm advection or high-pressure ridge strengthening. Historical climatology shows an 81.7°F average high for the date, but recent cooler upstream air masses have kept forecasts several degrees below normal. Traders appear to weigh the tight clustering of official guidance and ensemble outputs, which show low probability of exceeding 83°F or falling below 78°F absent unexpected model shifts before resolution.
