Persistent northeasterly flow and associated marine air mass are keeping New York City temperatures suppressed for September 22, with official National Weather Service guidance and ensemble model consensus centering highs in the mid-60s amid widespread cloud cover and scattered showers. This setup limits daytime insolation and favors the market’s leading 64-65°F and 66-67°F bins, whose near-even implied probabilities reflect modest forecast spread in maximum temperatures. Cooler-than-normal conditions follow recent frontal passages, with historical September averages near 75°F underscoring the anomaly. Traders are watching the next high-resolution model runs and afternoon observations for any late-day clearing that could nudge readings toward the upper end of the favored range.
