Recent forecasts from the National Weather Service and local models indicate overnight lows for Houston on September 1 near 77–79°F amid a heat dome with highs in the mid-90s. A weak Gulf low-pressure area is increasing atmospheric moisture and cloud cover, which limits nocturnal radiative cooling and supports higher minimum temperatures by trapping heat and elevating dew points near 70–75°F. Light southerly winds and potential scattered showers further reduce the likelihood of sharp drops below 76°F. Market-implied odds cluster tightly around 78–83°F because forecast models show modest disagreement on exact cloud thickness and any localized cooling from precipitation, creating genuine uncertainty within the typical late-summer range while historical September minima rarely dip much lower under similar patterns.
