Recent opinion polls for the September 20, 2026, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Landtag election show AfD leading at 35-36 percent while SPD holds second at 28-29 percent, with Linke at 11-12 percent, CDU at 9-10 percent, and smaller parties below or near the five-percent threshold. This stable gap has driven trader consensus toward SPD for second place, reinforced by SPD gains of two points in the latest Infratest dimap survey and consistent positioning across INSA and other releases. AfD’s frontrunner status remains firm, while CDU and Grüne show no momentum to challenge SPD, and newer entrants like BSW remain marginal. The short campaign window leaves limited scope for late shifts that could reorder the second slot.
