The withdrawal of two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz due to a right wrist injury has shifted trader consensus heavily toward world No. 1 Jannik Sinner as the clear frontrunner for the 2026 French Open title on the clay courts of Roland Garros. Sinner enters with strong recent form, including a Monte Carlo Masters 1000 victory and consistent results across the ATP Tour that underscore his improved movement and baseline consistency on slower surfaces. This leaves challengers such as Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic with limited realistic paths, though both bring deep clay-court experience and solid head-to-head records against top competition. The market pricing reflects how Alcaraz's absence removes the primary stylistic and historical obstacle, allowing Sinner's overall dominance to define implied probabilities while acknowledging the inherent unpredictability of Grand Slam outcomes on red clay.
