The October 9-10, 2026, Czech municipal elections frame trader sentiment on the next Ostrava mayor, with the city council selecting the officeholder afterward. Incumbent Jan Dohnal leads the srdcOVA coalition of ODS, KDU-ČSL, and TOP 09 after assuming the role in 2023 following ANO internal shifts, while ANO has positioned 30-year-old Slezská Ostrava district mayor Richard Vereš as its candidate to regain the post it held until then. Recent candidate list finalizations and coalition rebranding in mid-2026 have kept focus on local issues such as transport links, regional agglomeration with Katowice, and urban investment, without major late disruptions. Vereš holds the highest implied probability at 59.5 percent amid ANO's regional base and Vereš's district profile, yet Dohnal at 37 percent and several lower-probability names reflect uncertainty over final seat shares, potential post-election alliances, and turnout in Ostrava's districts that could alter council majorities.
