Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to northwest winds advecting cooler, drier air into the Chicago region overnight, with clearing skies after any afternoon showers promoting radiational cooling. This setup supports minimum temperatures clustering in the mid- to upper-50s Fahrenheit, aligning with the market's leading 58-59°F bin at 33.5% implied probability. Historical September climatology shows average overnight lows near 60°F, but the current pattern deviates cooler due to the wind shift and reduced cloud cover. Key uncertainties include exact clearing timing and any lingering moisture, which could nudge readings toward the 53°F-or-below outcome (30%) or hold them near 56-57°F (24%). Traders are monitoring the latest model runs for adjustments ahead of resolution.
