Recent forecasts from sources including WeatherBug and the UK Met Office point to a minimum temperature around 9–13°C for Wellington on September 2, driven by strengthening northwesterly winds ahead of a front that will keep overnight lows elevated rather than allowing radiational cooling under clear skies. Model consensus shows partly cloudy to windy conditions with limited southerly surges, consistent with typical early-spring variability in the region and the influence of an intensifying El Niño pattern favoring westerlies. Trader sentiment clusters around 11–12°C outcomes because these align closely with current ensemble guidance, while lower probabilities for extremes reflect the low likelihood of a sharp cold outbreak or unusually mild advection in the next 48 hours. Updated model runs and official MetService briefings over the coming day will likely refine these implied probabilities.
