This market will resolve to "Yes" if OpenAI's next GPT Image model (2.1+) is made available to the general public between market creation and the specified date (ET). Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A qualifying model must have a name or model identifier that includes "GPT Image" and be designated as version 2.1 or higher, regardless of capitalization, hyphenation, spacing, or surrounding prefixes, suffixes, dates, or descriptors. For example, a version 2.1 or higher named in the same manner as GPT Image 1.5 or GPT Image 2 would qualify, including a new whole-number generation such as GPT Image 3, while models whose name does not include "GPT Image" or which retain a version designation of 2 or below, such as GPT Image 2, GPT Image 2 mini, or DALL-E 3, will not qualify. Size, speed, or cost variants of any existing version, such as mini or turbo variants, and application or product version launches without a new qualifying underlying model, such as a "ChatGPT Images 3.0" product update, will not qualify. A qualifying model must be launched and publicly accessible, including via open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. A closed beta or any form of private access will not suffice. The release must either be clearly defined and publicly announced by OpenAI as accessible to the general public, or otherwise be made publicly accessible and explicitly labeled on the company's official website. Labeling errors, placeholder text, or version names displayed on the website that do not correspond to a model that is actually accessible to the general public will not qualify. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from OpenAI, with additional verification from a consensus of credible reporting.OpenAI’s official September 8, 2026 launch of GPT-Image-2.5, including API models GPT-Image-2.5 Flare and Sunburst plus the ChatGPT Images 2.5 rollout, is the dominant factor shaping trader sentiment on the next model in the series. The update delivers up to 50% lower latency than GPT Image 2 from April 2026, sharper photorealism, richer textures, more reliable multi-turn editing, and a new Sketch tool for drawing-based references. Two specialized variants now target speed versus precision workflows, with transparent background support and consistent style adherence. These confirmed capabilities and immediate availability in ChatGPT, Work, Codex, and the API have reinforced expectations that OpenAI will continue leading its own image-generation roadmap, while upcoming user adoption metrics and any competitive responses from rivals could still influence resolution.
