Recent ISM Services PMI readings have moderated to 54.0 in June from 54.5 in May, with business activity and new orders indexes slowing while the employment component rebounded to 51.2—the first expansion in four months. This pattern, alongside an easing prices paid index at 67.7, reflects resilient but cooling services expansion amid stable consumer spending and modest GDP growth projections near 2.0% for 2026. With July data collection underway and the release set for August 5, trader-implied odds across sub-50 to 58+ bins remain tightly balanced at 50% each, underscoring uncertainty over monthly volatility, labor market stabilization, and potential impacts from trade deficits or inflation trajectories. Comparable historical readings cluster around 53–55, leaving room for swings based on incoming employment and orders data.
