Recent polling shows President Trump's job approval hovering in the mid-to-high 30s amid sustained public concern over the Iran conflict's duration and its effects on energy prices and household costs. Weekly fluctuations remain tightly balanced because short-term survey movements often track minor shifts in economic sentiment or diplomatic signals rather than structural changes. Key variables that could move the market include any verifiable progress toward de-escalation or a new memorandum on the Strait of Hormuz, fresh inflation or jobs data, or congressional developments ahead of the midterms. The current 54% implied probability for an increase this week reflects trader assessment of these near-term catalysts against entrenched partisan divides and persistently negative net ratings.
