Trader consensus currently favors Alibaba as the leading Chinese AI company by end of May, driven by sustained momentum from its Qwen series in reasoning, coding, and multimodal benchmarks plus ongoing integrations across e-commerce and cloud platforms. Baidu holds the next-largest share amid recent Ernie efficiency gains and deployments in search and mobility applications. Z.ai occupies a narrower position through its GLM-focused advancements, while ByteDance, DeepSeek, and smaller entrants trail due to more limited recent benchmark visibility or commercialization scale. This positioning reflects the competitive landscape of model performance, user adoption, and enterprise uptake, with any late-May leaderboard shifts or releases capable of altering the implied probabilities.
