Latest AEMET forecasts and ensemble model guidance project a maximum of 36–37°C in Madrid on September 7 under clear to mostly clear skies, light southwesterly winds, and minimal cloud cover, supporting the market’s heavy weighting toward 37°C (53%) and 38°C (40.5%). These values sit well above the 1991–2020 daily average high of 28.5°C but remain below the 38.5°C all-time record for the date. Stable high pressure and dry continental air have prevented significant cooling or moisture influx, keeping overnight lows in the low 20s and allowing strong daytime heating. Updated model runs through September 5 show little disagreement on peak values, though minor shifts in wind direction or residual moisture could trim or add a degree before final observations from Retiro or Barajas stations determine resolution.
