Recent National Weather Service and ensemble model guidance points to a daytime high of 77–80°F in New York City on September 12, with partly to mostly sunny skies and a gradual shift to light southerly winds after a frontal passage. This setup favors the tightly bunched 76–81°F outcomes, as post-frontal northerly flow on the 11th yields cooler morning temperatures before moderating. Southerly advection and limited cloud cover support modest warming, yet marine influences and the urban heat island keep extremes unlikely. Historical climatology shows an average high of 77.7°F, reinforcing the current consensus while highlighting sensitivity to small shifts in wind timing or insolation that could tip the daily maximum between the leading bins. Updated model runs and the next NWS forecast discussion remain key near-term catalysts.
