Incumbent Democratic Progressive Party magistrate Chou Chun-mi holds a commanding position in the November 2026 Pingtung County magistrate race, reflecting trader consensus around her established local support and governing record since her 2022 victory. The Kuomintang’s December 2025 nomination of former legislator Su Ching-chuan as challenger has not materially shifted sentiment, as no major new polling aggregates, primary disputes, or coalition developments have emerged to narrow the gap. Historical precedent in Pingtung shows incumbents benefiting from name recognition and resource advantages in county-level contests, while the absence of significant late-cycle catalysts keeps probabilities anchored on continuity. Scheduled candidate registration later this month could introduce further clarity on field dynamics ahead of the vote.
