The absence of a designated White House press secretary following Karoline Leavitt’s recent departure has kept probabilities tightly clustered, with Marco Rubio at 56% and dozens of other named individuals and “Other” priced at 50%. Senior officials including JD Vance, Stephen Miller, Scott Bessent, and various communications aides have rotated through briefing duties in prior months, reflecting an ad hoc approach rather than a fixed assignment. Without an official scheduling notice, internal appointment, or public confirmation of responsibilities, traders assign comparable odds across a broad field. Any announcement of a new press secretary, a scheduled briefing led by a specific cabinet member, or procedural clarification on podium leadership could quickly separate the top contenders from the pack.

Resolution is based on who actually delivers the briefing from the podium, not on who is listed or announced in advance. If the individual scheduled or announced to give a briefing does not ultimately lead it, this market will resolve to the individual who does. An individual who appears at a qualifying briefing only as a guest, or who speaks only after being introduced by the individual leading the briefing, will not qualify.
For the purposes of this market, a White House press briefing is an event listed on the public White House schedule as a press briefing. Any such briefing will qualify, even if the individual leading it has not been formally announced as the Press Secretary or as an acting or interim Press Secretary. "New Media" briefings and special briefings including additional guests will qualify, so long as the individual leads the briefing.
Impromptu press gaggles, and remarks that are not listed on the public schedule as a press briefing, will not qualify.
If two or more individuals jointly lead the next qualifying briefing, this market will resolve to the individual who speaks first.
If no qualifying White House press briefing occurs by September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other".
This market will resolve based on footage of the briefing, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting.
