The May primary narrowed the Lexington mayoral contest to incumbent Linda Gorton and challenger Raquel Carter for the November 3 general election, yet trader odds stay tightly clustered with many names near 50 percent. Gorton secured 46 percent in the primary—down from prior showings—while Carter took 28 percent amid a crowded field of eliminated candidates. Carter’s early positioning as a Democrat via mailers and focus on inclusive governance have kept the race competitive in this nonpartisan contest. With four months until Election Day, factors such as fundraising trends, voter turnout efforts in key precincts, and debates on economic development could shift implied probabilities before resolution.
