**Édouard Philippe leads the market at 68.5% due to his stronger and more consistent polling position within France’s fragmented centrist bloc ahead of the April 2027 presidential election.** As the declared Horizons candidate and former prime minister (2017–2020), he benefits from greater name recognition, established networks on the center-right, and repeated first-round survey leads over Gabriel Attal (typically 14–21% vs. Attal’s 6–18% in multi-candidate scenarios from recent Ifop, Harris Interactive, and OpinionWay polls). Attal, the Renaissance secretary general and 2024 prime minister who formally launched his bid in May 2026, trails despite active campaigning, a focus on renewal, and efforts to distance himself from the Macron record. The two share near-identical positions on most economic and policy issues, with only minor differences (such as education reforms), yet their parallel candidacies split centrist votes and reduce each contender’s chances of reaching a runoff against frontrunners from the Rassemblement National or La France Insoumise. Traders appear to price Philippe’s edge in experience, broader appeal to right-leaning centrists, and attempts at wider rassemblement as decisive factors one year out.
