Recent National Weather Service and private model guidance points to a minimum temperature of 71–73°F in New York City on September 3, aligning with the market’s tight clustering around 70–73°F. Persistent cloud cover, elevated dew points near 70°F, and light southwest flow associated with a slow-moving frontal system are limiting nocturnal radiative cooling and keeping overnight lows several degrees above the early-September climatological average of 65°F. Scattered showers and high humidity further suppress temperature drops. Traders appear to be weighting the consensus of latest runs showing only modest cooling before dawn, while acknowledging that any unexpected clearing could allow readings to dip toward the 68–69°F bin. Updated NWS forecasts and model consensus updates over the next 48 hours remain the key variables.
