Elevated 2026 inflation expectations near 5.0%, well above the 3% target, combined with the Banco Central do Brasil's emphasis on upside risks and a data-dependent stance, anchor trader consensus around no change at the November Copom meeting. The Selic rate stands at 14.00% following the August 25-basis-point cut, which aligned with expectations amid moderating but resilient activity and a tight labor market. July CPI eased to 4.44% year-over-year—within the 1.5-4.5% tolerance band—yet core measures and Focus survey projections signal limited room for acceleration in easing. This setup positions a further 25-basis-point reduction as a plausible but less favored alternative, while larger moves remain remote given the policy committee's repeated signals for measured adjustments and incoming data on price trajectories.

Increases or decreases of less than 25 bps will be rounded to 25 bps (e.g. an increase or decrease of 10 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 25 bps). Increases or decreases of greater than 25 bps will be rounded to the nearest 25 bps and will be rounded away from 0 in cases of equidistance (e.g., an increase or decrease of 37.5 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 50 bps). Displayed options of “Increase” or “Decrease” will include policy rate increases or decreases of any size.
If the specified meeting is postponed to a date and time before the start of the next scheduled meeting, this market will resolve based on the outcome of that postponed meeting.
