Recent National Weather Service and model consensus points to a high near 98–99°F for Dallas on September 20, well above the 1991–2020 climatological average of 88.6°F, as a persistent warm, moist southerly flow under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies sustains the heat. Afternoon instability introduces only a 20% chance of showers or thunderstorms that could modestly limit peak readings, while heat indices may approach 105°F. Historical records show 102°F as the September 20 maximum, but current guidance places the most likely outcome in the upper 90s, aligning with trader emphasis on the 98–99°F bin. Updated short-range model runs and official observations on the 20th will determine final resolution.
