**Union Centriste currently holds 59 seats in the French Senate, with 30 of them renewed on September 27 through indirect voting by roughly 160,000 local officials (primarily mayors and municipal delegates) in 63 departments plus the overseas constituency.** The group, led by Hervé Marseille and aligned with centrist formations including MoDem and UDI, enters the contest close behind the Socialist group (64 seats) and well behind Les Républicains. Recent municipal elections have shaped the grand-elector pool, while analysts note limited scope for major shifts given UC’s established local networks and the emphasis on stability from party leaders. Trader consensus centers on modest net changes—most likely 56–61 seats total—reflecting balanced expectations of small gains offsetting any losses amid competition from independents, Republicans, and potential far-right advances in certain departments. Post-election group composition will also depend on post-vote affiliations.
