Lin Kuo-chang, the DPP nominee with prior Yilan County government experience, holds the leading market position in this November 28, 2026 local election amid a fragmented field that includes KMT legislator Wu Tsung-hsien and TPP nominee Chen Wan-hui. Joint KMT-TPP polling from May showed Wu edging or tying Lin in head-to-head matchups, reflecting opposition coordination efforts that could consolidate votes, while earlier surveys indicated Lin ahead. The county's mixed partisan history, combined with ongoing candidate registration and campaign activity through the fall, sustains tight implied probabilities. Late developments such as additional opposition consolidation, turnout shifts in key districts, or policy-focused debates on local issues could widen gaps before voting.
