Persistent marine layer conditions, deepened by a cut-off low over the region, are suppressing daytime heating in San Francisco and anchoring the highest temperature near the mid-60s on September 21. Official National Weather Service forecasts and multiple model runs project a high around 64–66°F under mostly cloudy skies with southwest winds of 5–15 mph, consistent with September’s typical marine influence before the seasonal retreat allows warmer inland air. Recent observations show elevated stratus and high clouds further limiting insolation, reducing the chance of reaching 68°F or above. Traders have priced the 66–67°F bin highest at 43% implied probability, reflecting this consensus while assigning lower odds to warmer bins given the stable onshore flow and lack of forecast shifts in the latest updates.
