A tight contest between the National-led government and Labour-led opposition, reflected in recent polls showing near parity, supports expectations of solid participation consistent with the 77.5% turnout in 2023. Offsetting this are declining youth enrollment rates reaching 53% and procedural shifts requiring enrollment by late October without same-day options, which could dampen engagement among lower-propensity groups. Traders price the 78-80% band highest as these factors balance, with nearby 76-78% and 80-82% outcomes also liquid. Upcoming advance voting from late October and final enrollment figures may clarify whether competitiveness outweighs structural barriers.
