**Trader sentiment for Cape Town’s September 4 maximum temperature centers on the clearing trend after a strong frontal system.** As of September 2, models and official guidance show Thursday (Sept 3) bringing cooler, wet, and very windy conditions across the Western Cape, with highs near 16°C and significant rainfall. This sets up a rapid transition to drier, sunnier conditions on Friday under building high pressure. Forecasts for the 4th converge on a maximum of 18–19°C, with some runs reaching 20°C under clearer skies and strong southeast winds (the typical “Cape Doctor” regime). These winds enhance mixing and limit daytime warming despite abundant sunshine, keeping temperatures close to early-September climatology. The tight clustering of market-implied probabilities around 19°C (36.5%) and 20°C (45.5%) reflects genuine uncertainty in exactly how quickly cloud cover erodes and how much the persistent southeasterlies suppress the peak. Key resolution factors include the precise timing of clearing (afternoon sun angle) and wind gust strength, both of which official South African Weather Service updates and short-range model runs will refine in the next 24–48 hours. No longer-term climate signals are influencing this short-term market.

The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=fact
If NOAA data for the observation date is unavailable by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, the Weather Underground Daily Observations table will be used as the resolution source.
In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C.
This market will resolve once the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the day following the observation date, whichever comes first.
The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
