Incumbent Labour Party maintains a commanding position ahead of Malta's 30 May parliamentary election, reflecting sustained leads in recent opinion polls that place it roughly 10 percentage points ahead of the Nationalist Party. Prime Minister Robert Abela's decision to call the early vote amid concerns over energy costs and regional tensions has not disrupted this advantage, as Labour continues to benefit from its record in government and targeted pledges on cost-of-living measures. The Nationalist Party, led by Alex Borg, focuses on healthcare and infrastructure alternatives, yet remains behind in voter intention surveys. Smaller parties register negligible support. While the outcome is not certain until votes are counted under the proportional representation system, late campaign developments or shifts among undecided voters could narrow the gap before polling day.
