Slovenia's March 2026 parliamentary elections left no outright majority, with Robert Golob's Freedom Movement securing a narrow one-seat edge over Janez Janša's Slovenian Democratic Party before Golob admitted failure to assemble a coalition in late April. This shifted initiative to Janša, who has advanced center-right talks with NSi, SLS and aligned partners, supported by recent parliamentary approval of government reforms reducing ministries. Traders assign Janez Janša a 95.2% implied probability of becoming the next prime minister, reflecting expectations of his nomination in the second round and confirmation via simple National Assembly majority. Remaining risks include last-minute coalition breakdowns, partner defections or a failed floor vote that could reopen negotiations or trigger snap elections.
