National Weather Service forecasts and supporting model guidance currently favor a high near 100°F in Austin on September 16 under mostly sunny skies with light southerly flow. This places the market’s top two bins (100-101°F at 40.5% and 98-99°F at 36.5%) in close contention, reflecting minor differences in projected cloud cover, boundary-layer mixing, and exact peak timing across ensemble runs. Late-summer southerly advection continues to support above-normal readings relative to the 1991-2020 average high of 91°F, while stable high pressure limits convective cooling. Updated short-range model output and the final NWS forecast discussion before the date will likely tighten the range further as the event approaches.
