MLSTP–PSD holds a commanding position in the São Tomé and Príncipe parliamentary election market, scheduled for 27 September 2026, reflecting trader consensus on its strong recent momentum. Incumbent President Carlos Vila Nova’s first-round re-election on 19 July with 55.9 percent, backed by the party, has consolidated support ahead of the vote for the 55-seat National Assembly. The ADI, which won 30 seats in 2022 but faced a government crisis after the president dismissed its prime minister in January 2025, now contends with internal divisions and trails significantly. Multiple smaller parties and coalitions are contesting under proportional representation, yet none show comparable organizational strength or recent electoral success. Late developments such as turnout patterns, final coalition alignments, or unexpected shifts in the diaspora vote could still alter the outcome, though the compressed timeline limits their likely impact.
