Recent U.S. economic data, including firm August employment and producer prices alongside elevated oil costs, have reinforced trader focus on the Federal Reserve’s September 16 FOMC decision as the dominant near-term driver for the DXY. Hawkish comments from Chair Warsh at Jackson Hole lifted September hike probabilities, supporting the index near 99.10 amid Treasury yield movements and a 200-day moving average around that level. Markets price in a modest tightening tilt while economists largely expect steady policy through year-end, creating tension between data resilience and growth concerns. Key releases this week—retail sales, Empire State and Philly Fed surveys, and housing metrics—will shape implied rate paths and DXY volatility around current levels.
