Recent IPCA readings, including a 4.72% year-over-year rate in May 2026 and 4.6% in June, have anchored trader sentiment toward the 5.00-5.49% band for full-year 2026 inflation, as sticky food, services, and energy components have offset base effects and kept the gauge above the Central Bank of Brazil’s 4.5% upper tolerance limit. Market-implied odds reflect persistent above-target prints and modest upward revisions in Focus survey expectations, even as the BCB continues gradual Selic reductions to 14.00-14.25%. With August and September data releases plus the next Copom decisions ahead, traders are pricing limited further deceleration by year-end given fiscal pressures and global commodity risks.
