CDU leads SPD in recent Berlin polling trends ahead of the September 20 state election, reflecting the Social Democrats' weaker positioning in the capital and nationally after repeated state-level setbacks. The incumbent CDU-SPD coalition faces voter concerns over housing shortages, security, and budget austerity, with CDU candidate Stefan Evers positioned as the frontrunner following governing mayor Kai Wegner's withdrawal amid scandals. SPD candidate Steffen Krach trails in surveys, consistent with the party's broader decline in support. Traders' strong consensus on CDU receiving more votes aligns with these polling gaps and the parties' relative trajectories in the multi-party contest.
