Cusco's October 4, 2026, provincial mayoral contest features a crowded field of roughly a dozen registered candidates, with recent July polls showing Albert Aníbal Arenas Yabar leading at about 34 percent followed by Sergio Sullca Condori, William Peña Farfán, Gabriela Paliza Romero, and Eduardo Zans Loayza. The fragmented vote share among local figures, district mayors, and regional party contenders has kept implied probabilities tightly clustered near the top, reflecting voter indecision and the absence of a dominant frontrunner. Key variables include turnout patterns in urban versus rural districts, ongoing local governance debates, and any late endorsements or campaign momentum that could consolidate support before election day.
