**The market for Serbia’s next prime minister remains tightly contested ahead of the October 25 snap parliamentary elections, with Aleksandar Vučić holding a narrow lead in trader pricing amid broad uncertainty over the final outcome.** Vučić, the current president whose second term ends in 2027, announced in late June that he would resign within weeks and shift to the premiership, prompting his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) to nominate him as head of the “United Serbia” electoral list. Parliament was dissolved in early September, formalizing the vote after more than 18 months of student-led protests triggered by the November 2024 Novi Sad railway station collapse that killed 16 people. Those demonstrations have broadened into wider criticism of governance and corruption, elevating opposition and student-backed lists as competitive challengers. The current government, led by Prime Minister Đuro Macut since April 2025, operates under a technical mandate while SNS retains a parliamentary plurality. Traders appear to price the contest as highly sensitive to turnout, coalition math, and any late shifts in momentum, with multiple candidates listed near even odds reflecting the fluid pre-election environment and the direct link between parliamentary results and the subsequent prime-ministerial appointment. Scheduled events within the resolution window, including the October vote and any immediate post-election coalition talks, remain the dominant near-term catalysts.

To count for resolution, the individual must be elected by the National Assembly and be formally sworn-in, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who is not elected by the National Assembly will not count toward the resolution of this market.
If no such Prime Minister takes office by June 30, 2028, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”.
This market will resolve based on a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official information from the Serbian government.
