Persistent marine layer from the cold California Current and strong onshore flow, reinforced by an early-September storm system, is suppressing daytime heating across San Francisco on September 3, keeping official highs in the mid-to-upper 60s amid widespread cloud cover, drizzle, and below-normal temperatures. Historical averages near 70°F and the typical September weakening of the marine layer support trader emphasis on the 70–71°F and 68–69°F bins as the most probable outcomes, while lingering storm moisture and persistent stratus reduce odds of reaching 72°F or higher. Updated National Weather Service guidance and model consensus on limited afternoon clearing continue to anchor market-implied probabilities around these thresholds.
