Recent UK CPI readings at 2.6% for June 2026, combined with Bank of England revisions projecting a pickup to around 3.2% by Q4 amid Middle East energy price volatility, underpin the near-tie between the 3.5–3.9% and 2.5–2.9% annual average bands. Traders weigh persistent services inflation near 3.6% and indirect effects from higher wholesale costs against softening core goods and food price trends, with monetary policy held at 3.75% signaling caution on second-round effects. Upcoming CPI releases and any further commodity moves will likely determine whether outcomes cluster around 3% or shift higher, reflecting skin-in-the-game assessment of the inflation path.
