Recent July inflation data at 2.1% month-over-month, up from 1.9% in June and slightly above consensus, has anchored expectations for August amid Argentina’s ongoing disinflation. Trader sentiment remains evenly split between the 1.5-1.7% and 1.8-2.0% buckets because July’s tick higher ended three straight months below 2%, with analysts citing winter holiday effects and residual price pressures despite stable exchange rates and tighter fiscal policy under President Milei. Year-over-year inflation held near 33.8%, while central bank surveys point to full-year 2026 inflation near 30%. The narrow spread in implied probabilities highlights sensitivity to incoming data on core prices, utility adjustments, and monetary conditions before the September release.
