Current short-term forecasts from NOAA and supporting models show a primary driver of mid-80s highs for New York City on September 1, with highs near 86°F amid humid conditions, southwest winds, and a 60-70% chance of showers and thunderstorms that could suppress peak readings. This aligns with the market's leading 86-87°F bin at 31.5% implied probability, ahead of 84-85°F, as cloud cover and precipitation limit daytime heating despite seasonal norms near 80°F. Model consensus points to modest variability based on storm timing and coverage, with final NWS updates and real-time observations likely to resolve the narrow range before market close.
