**Recent forecasts position 28–29°C as the most probable range for Shanghai’s daily high on September 17, 2026.** Multiple models, including GFS-based outputs and regional summaries, indicate a high near 28–30°C (roughly 82–86°F) under partly cloudy to overcast skies with light easterly or northeasterly winds and a chance of light rain or drizzle. These conditions limit daytime heating compared with clear-sky scenarios. Climatologically, mid-September highs in Shanghai average around 28°C, so current guidance aligns closely with seasonal norms rather than signaling an outlier. Cloud cover and modest moisture from nearby frontal influences suppress stronger warming, keeping probabilities for 30°C+ very low while still allowing room for 29°C if skies clear more than expected. Shorter-range updates over the next 48 hours from agencies such as the China Meteorological Administration or global ensembles will be the key catalysts for any shift in trader-implied odds.
