Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to an overnight low in the mid-to-upper 60s°F for Chicago on September 17, with trader consensus centered on the 66–69°F bins. Persistent cloud cover and a northeast wind flow of 5–10 mph limit radiational cooling under high humidity, while scattered showers or thunderstorms add further moderation by enhancing downward mixing of warmer air. These conditions contrast with clearer, calmer scenarios that could allow temperatures to dip toward 64–65°F. Updated model runs show minimal spread, keeping the market tightly bunched around the current forecast consensus rather than historical September averages near 58°F.
